About
Joe Picozzi

Joe Picozzi is a writer, director, producer, and editor based in New York City, originally from Providence, Rhode Island. He aims to make films with style, substance, and soul. His work finds humor in uncomfortable truths, blending the absurd with the deeply human.

His films have won awards at places like The Young Director Award, Santa Fe Film Festival, Proof Film Festival, The College Emmys, Miami Film Festival, Flickers’ Rhode Island Film Festival, Chelsea Film Festival, Woods Hole Film Festival, and more.

His fourth short film, MY KIND OF PEOPLE, won the top prize at the 2024 Russo Brothers’ Italian American Filmmaker Forum. The film features Joe’s grandfather (also Joe Picozzi) in a leading role. A feature version, loosely inspired by the short, is currently in active development and financing.

Joe holds an MFA in Film & Television Production from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and is repped by Thruline Entertainment.
